Q: What programs does MIBT Indonesia offer?

A: We offer a Foundation program and a Diploma of Commerce (Business); Computing; Management; also Media & Communication.


Q: What are the entry requirements of those programs?

A: For the Foundation program, completion of SMU 2/Yr 11 or ‘O’levels with a GPA of 7,2 or more in at least 4 academic subjects, while for the diploma, completion of SMU 3/Yr 12 with a GPA of 7 or more in at least 4 academic subjects.


Q: What are the major benefits of studying at MIBT Indonesia?

A: They include flexible entry to many universities & flexible intakes (3 intakes per year); high academic standard; gradual transition to the Australian education system; and saving both time and money.


Q: What are the main similarities and differences between MIBT Indonesia & MIBT Melbourne?

A: The similarities include the same programs, materials, curriculum, including text books, assessments, assignments, examinations and certification. The differences include the location and lower tuition fees.


Q: Are the diploma courses equivalent to first year university?

A: Yes – the diploma courses are the same level and using the same materials as those for the relevant first year undergraduate programs offered by Deakin University.


Q: What are the advantages of attending MIBT Indonesia rather than 1st year university?

A: The main advantages include much smaller classes for lectures; more class time per unit which allows more time to understand the course; and the choice of studying over two or three trimesters.


Q: When I have completed my diploma can I get direct entry to 2nd year at Deakin University?

A: Yes – when you have average marks of at least 50% overall.


Q: Are MIBT Indonesia programs recognised by other Australian universities?

A: Yes – many Australian universities recognise them. Advanced standing is given on an individual case basis.


Q: Do I have to complete the foundation or diploma program in twotrimesters (8 months)?

A: No. While it is possible to complete either program in two trimesters (fast track), some students decide to study over three trimesters (standard track), to allow more time to concentrate on each individual unit.


Q: What is the maximum number of units that I can study each trimester?

A: Four units is the maximum for any student in any one semester.


Q: How many intakes are there each year?

A: There are three intakes per year – March, June and October.


Q: What are the qualifications of MIBT Indonesia lecturers?

A: The standard qualifications of the lecturers for MIBT both in Melbourne and Indonesia are the same, i.e., they must possess minimum of post graduate qualification from an overseas university.


Q: What if I fail some units - do I have to repeat the whole trimester?

A: No, due to the flexible nature of the program you can progress to new units while retaking those you’ve failed. With three trimesters per year, students who fail units can get back 'on track' without loss of time.


Q: What time are classes scheduled at MIBT?

A: Teaching takes place Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 12.00pm and from 12.45pm to 4.45pm.


Q: Where do MIBT Indonesia students come from?

A: Although students at MIBT Indonesia are mainly from Indonesia, others come from various countries around the world, such as Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Syria, Singapore, USA and South Africa.


Q: Does MIBT Indonesia run a full bachelor degree in Jakarta?

A: No because all our diploma graduates are guaranteed direct entry to 2nd year at Deakin University.


Q: Does MIBT Indonesia provide scholarships?

A: Yes – there is a scholarship of AUD1,000 for foundation students obtaining a 65% average on their foundation program who continue to diploma.


Q: If I have not completed my college studies elsewhere, can I continue studying at MIBT Indonesia?

A: Yes – by submitting your academic transcript and syllabus (unit outlines) for assessment.


Q: What facilities does MIBT Indonesia provide?

A: Computer labs with free internet access, library, electric library, student access room, student cafe and lounge with hotspot connection/WiFi, pool table, student sports activities and various other student social activities.
